How do you help Mums and Families?
Being a first-time mom, especially as an expat away from family and friends, can be quite a daunting experience – I lived through it myself. Twice.
While most moms prepare for giving birth by attending a class or two (which are also super important), often the preparation stops there, hoping that the maternal instinct will eventually kick in.
In reality, often the post-partum period proves to be much more challenging than giving birth itself. There are so many questions and unknowns. How to breastfeed? How do I know if my baby is eating enough? What happens if I need to bottle feed? Why is my baby not sleeping through the night? Is it normal? Can I give them a pacifier? Why is their poop green? Is it safe to use a blanket for a baby? Which products are harmful? How do I know if my baby is developing optimally? When can I introduce solids? How to babyproof my house?
As a Certified Post-Partum & Infant Care Doula and Early Parenting Educator, my mission is to prepare new moms to (almost) all of the challenges that they may face in the first year of their baby’s life.
The journey starts with our Fourth Trimester Workshop for expecting parents where they can learn all about breast and bottle feeding, attachment parenting, baby care, movement development, baby safety, babywearing and swaddling, and baby sleeping techniques.
Next up is the Baby-Led Weaning Workshop, before the little ones turn 6 months old. We educate moms on how to introduce solid foods to their baby in a way that it encourages self-feeding and allows kids to actually explore and learn about food at their own pace, while making sure that they stay safe.
The final piece of the puzzle is our Professional Babyproofing Service, where our expert will visit your home and conduct a thorough assessment to identify potential hazards and offer personalized solutions. We'll then create a detailed babyproofing plan, complete with product recommendations and a timeline for installing all the equipment by our handyman.
Modern day dads are usually eager to take on an involved role as a father, but they might not know how to or what would be the best way to get involved, as the previous generations of fathers were less hands-on.
While in most families mom is still the primary caregiver, dads can become just as competent and confident as moms, except for the breastfeeding. They just need some guidance and more practice. And I’m here to guide them.
This is why, throughout my postnatal & early parenting workshops and consultations, I train the whole family as a unit, helping them figure out how to share and divide the beautiful (and super tiring) labour of early parenting. They are both on team Baby.
Babies don’t care about how pretty their nursery is, how expensive their stroller was, or if they are dressed in the trendiest baby clothes. All that matters to them is their parents, and how well their mom and dad can attune and react to their needs, so that they can form a strong attachment.
I help babies by transforming their parents to confident and capable caregivers who understand what they can expect from a baby and how to react to their needs from birth to toddlerhood. How? Through my consultations and workshops, ranging from infant care to baby-led weaning.
I also make their home environment safe through my baby-proofing services, so that they are free to explore more and more of the world.
